The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.
My parents have a small house on our property. It is up a slight hill and whenever it rains heavily or storms, without doubt one of my kids will ask me if Grandma and Grandpa’s house will slide down the hill? Of course, it has never even moved an inch because it was built properly on a strong concrete foundation.
We are the same as houses. We build our lives and our selves on foundational ideas and beliefs. If our foundations are rooted in the Word of God – His promises and truths – we will stand strong in the storms of life (Luke 6:47-48).
The Bible is full of warnings that in life we will encounter hardships (John 16:33). But the key to thriving in this life is to remain in Him, to stand strong in His promises and to know and apply His Word in our lives (Psalm 92:12) . We can then face the future with confidence and courage that we are unshakeable.
1 Corinthians 15:58 encourages us to stand firm, stable and enduring. That we can live our lives with unshakeable confidence because of our union with the Lord.
He promises you that His foundation will keep you standing strong in every storm of life.
Prayer and Reflection:
Take a moment to thank God that His foundation for your life is strong and unshakeable.
Now, ask Him to reveal any foundational beliefs you have, that are not from Him, and replace them with His truth.
Finally, be still before Him and listen for what He is saying to you. Write it down here.
