Do you ever struggle to keep trusting in what you’ve decided in faith?
Gosh, sometimes I feel like I make decisions grounded in faith and I am so steadfast… then as time goes on and I have to keep working at it… I begin to lose the zazz and the excitement and sometimes then, I begin to doubt what God has begun in me. Was I wrong? Has He changed His mind? Forgotten me?
The Elisabeth Elliot quote “Don’t dig up in doubt what you planted in faith” has always resonated with me because I have a tendency to do just that! Decisions about my business, resolutions about my marriage, health decisions over my kids. Sometimes, I really need help to keep me focused on Jesus!
Here are a couple of thoughts and Scripture that help me stay on track:
🌱 God’s goodness does not rely on my feelings, His goodness and favour are with me ALWAYS even when I’m doubting myself “And God is able to make all grace [every favour and earthly blessings] come in abundance to you, so that you may always [under all circumstances, regardless of the need] have complete sufficiency in everything [being completely self-sufficient in Him], and have an abundance for every good work and act of charity.” 2 Corinthians 9:8 AMP
🌱 His plans for me are good ALWAYS “I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out – plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for.” Jeremiah 29:11
🌱 I am NEVER forgotten “Can a mother forget her nursing child? Can she feel no love for the child she has borne? But even if that were possible, I would not forget you! See, I have written you name on the palms of my hands.” Isaiah 49:15-16
🌱 and He KEEPS His promises “You keep every promise you’ve ever made to me! Since your love for me is constant and endless, I ask you, Lord, to finish every good thing that you’ve begun in me!” Psalms 138:8 TPT
“Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep His promises.” Hebrews 10:23 (NLT)
Do you ever doubt what you set out in faith to do?
